Photo 52: Project Light | playing with artificial light-1

Daylight reveals color; artificial light drains it.
                    ~Helena Rubinstein

This quote may have helped savvy Ms. Rubinstein sell some cosmetics, but I hope to find it not quite accurate. Welcome to a new month and new topic for P52: Project Light. As you may have guessed, this month we are playing with artificial light in its many forms: flash, light fixtures and even illuminated screens. Most, if not all, of us in the blog circle began our photographic educations by learning about and capturing natural daylight. Embracing artificial light will be a new challenge.

Here is my first play using a new flash. Against the bright sunlit background the flash is used to just fill in some light and color on the skin. Eat your heart out Helena :)

Photo 52: Project Light is a collaborative year long project I am working on with several other talented photographers. To see all of our submissions for this week just follow the links at the bottom of each blog post. (For more information on Project Light click on my premier post.)

Next check out the beautiful photography of Erica Collins. After Erica please continue around the circle to see all of our plays with artificial light.
