Where there is much light, the shadow is deep.
- Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
It's a new month which means a new topic for Photo 52: Project Light! November is the beginning of chillier darker days and more time spent indoors for most of us. We tried to pick a topic that would work well in these conditions and decided on "hard light". Hard light creates shadows with a sharp transition from light to dark which gives the subject hard shadows for a more dramatic look. The light that creates it is strongly focused from a relatively small single light source such as a lamp, the screen of an iPad or, as in my case, a bright afternoon window.
Photo 52: Project Light is a collaborative project I am working on with several other talented photographers. To see all of our submissions for this week just follow the links at the bottom of each blog post. (For more information on Project 52 click on my premier post.)
Next up in the circle we head over to Texas to visit Kim DuPree. Her skillful use of natural light can be seen in her beautiful portrait work as well as her amazing blog posts every week! Please go check her out and continue along the circle...
